Steven Spielberg's Robopocalypse gets postponed

Steven Spielberg's next film 'Robopocalypse' has been postponed indefinitely.

The 'Lincoln' director was set to helm the futuristic sci-fi action film - with Chris Hemsworth and Anne Hathaway rumoured to star - but the project has now been put on hold.

Steven's spokesman Martin Levy said the project was ''too important and the script is not ready, and it's too expensive to produce. It's back to the drawing board to see what is possible.''

'Robopocalypse' already faced a setback as it was to be Steven's next film after 2011's 'War Horse' but was pushed back in favour of 'Lincoln', which recently received multiple BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations.

The Dreamworks production is thought to have had a budget of more than $100 million, and was to be distributed by Disney and Fox, marking Steven's first film with the latter studio in over a decade since 2002's 'Minority Report' starring Tom Cruise and Colin Farrell.

The film is based on Daniel H. Wilson's 2011 book of the same name about a band of humans who try to survive the decimation of the world's population by robots.

'Thor' star Chris and 'Les Miserables' actress Anne were to be joined by 'Skyfall' actor Ben Whishaw in the film, slated for a 2014 release.
