Steven Spielberg's Lincoln Leads The BAFTA Nominations

'Lincoln' has swept the 2013 BAFTAs with 10 nominations.

The blockbuster film, which is based on the life of late US president Abraham Lincoln, received amazing results when the nominees for this year's ceremony were announced in London this morning (09.01.13) by 'Starter For Ten' actress Alice Eve and 'Warhorse' star Jeremy Irvine at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts' Piccadilly headquarters.

Leading man Daniel Day-Lewis is in the running for the Leading Actor title for his portrayal of the iconic president, who abolished slavery in the States, and another one of its many nods include the prestigious Best Film award.

Daniel's co-star's Sally Field and Tommy Lee Jones have also been recognised for their roles in Steven Spielberg's biopic and are both nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress.

Other contenders in the Leading Actor category are Bradley Cooper in 'Silver Linings Playbook', Ben Affleck in 'Argo', Joaquin Pheonix in 'The Master' and Hugh Jackman in 'Les Miserables'.

Dame Helen Mirren is tipped to win Leading Actress for her portrayal of director Alfred Hitchcock's wife Alma Reville in 'Hitchcock', facing tough competition from Marion Cotillard in 'Rust and Bone', Jennifer Lawrence in 'Silver Linings Playbook', Emmanuel Riva for 'Amour' and Jessica Chastain in 'Zero Dark Thirty'.

Ang Lee's visual delight 'Life of Pi' and musical film 'Les Miserables' are also after the Best Film award along with 'Argo' and 'Zero Dark Thirty' and both films are close behind their rival 'Lincoln' with nine nominations.

The ceremony will be held at London's Royal Opera House on February 10 and is to be hosted by Stephen Fry, with the BBC broadcasting the whole event.
