Steve Martin - Steve Martin Works With Dixie Chicks And Mccartney

Steve Martin, the American actor and acclaimed comedian, released his latest bluegrass album 'Rare Bird Alert' yesterday (15th March 2011) and the record features a number of high profile collaborations, reports
Steve Martin has collaborated with the Dixie Chicks and Paul Mccartney on his new album 'Rare Bird Alert'.A long-time banjo player, Martin recorded the album with producer Tony Trischka and the Steep Canyon Rangers, a North Carolina bluegrass group. Martin and Trischka performed live together on 'The Late Show With David Letterman' back in May 2007. 'Rare Bird Alert' features 12 original songs written by the comedian, as well as a live version of 'King Tut', a humorous ditty that was a hit for Martin back in 1978. The Beatles' star MCCartney adds vocals to the track 'Best Love', while acclaimed country trio the Dixie Chicks feature on 'You'. The 65-year-old's last bluegrass album 'The Crow' was released in 2009 and won the Grammy Award for best bluegrass album, beating the likes of Jim Lauderdale and Bryan Sutton.
The theme of 'rare birds' continues in Steve Martin's next movie role, which sees him starring in 'The Big Year', a comedy about three avid bird watchers who compete to spot the rarest breeds in North America. The movie also stars Owen Wilson and Jack Black and is set for release on 14th October 2011.
