Steve Martin - Steve Martin Breaks Silence On Birth Of Child
Actor Steve Martin has broken his silence on the birth of his first child with Anne Stringfield, insisting fatherhood is going great because "I have a wonderful wife".
The Father of the Bride star and Stringfield, who is 26 years his junior, quietly welcomed a baby in December (12), and managed to keep the birth news, sex and name of the tot a secret for months.
Martin appeared on U.S. Tv programme The Late Show With David Letterman on Tuesday (23Apr13) to promote his new bluegrass album, Love Has Come For You, but he was unable to dodge questions about the new family member in his life.
Host Letterman told viewers the newborn was a little girl, and when asked about his daughter's name, the 67 year old joked, "We've thought about the name quite a bit. Conquistador. What do you think? I didn't want to go with one of those Hollywood weird names. Conquistador is a statement."
The funnyman, who brought a fake baby monitor onto the show to prove he's a "responsible dad," later took on a more serious tone and thanked his wife of six years for being such a tremendous parent: "It's going great because I have a wonderful wife."
