Steve Jobs - Steve Jobs Getting Musical Tribute From The Flaming Lips

Apple boss Steve Jobs is set to be remembered by seminal psychedelic rockers The Flaming Lips at the O Music Awards on October 31st 2011. The news was given in a double announcement that also saw Swedish electronic-pop stalwart Robyn revealed as the awards headliner.
Jobs passed away on October 5th after a long battle with pancreatic cancer, but will be remembered more than any musician or music industry insider for changing the shape of music in the first decade of the new millennium following the the launch of iTunes and the iPod. It's perhaps fitting that The Flaming Lips - known for their own skills of thinking outside the box when it comes to live shows - will be paying homage to the former Apple Ceo. reports that the Oklahomans will cover The Beatles 'Revolution,' with the performance being recorded on an iPad and broadcast on the O Music site.
In iPad related news, the UK's Daily Mail today reports that the tablet might not even have been invented had inspiration not come from an unlikely source - Apple's arch-rivals Microsoft. In Walter Isaacson's authorised biography 'Steve Jobs,' the Apple boss recalls a dinner meeting with a Microsoft employee, saying, "This dinner was like the tenth time he talked to me about it, and I was so sick of it that I came home and said, 'F*ck this, let's show him what a tablet can really be". One hopes that Bill Gates doesn't discover the identity of that poor worker.
