Steve Carell - Steve Carell Banned From Revealing Magician's Secrets

Actor Steve Carell has been banned from revealing all about the magic tricks he learned from famed illusionist David Copperfield for his new movie The Incredible Burt Wonderstone after signing a confidentiality agreement.

The 40 Year Old Virgin star portrays a flamboyant Las Vegas magician in the forthcoming comedy and had to perfect a brand new illusion Copperfield created specially for the film - which involves one stuntman swapping places with another who's seemingly trapped in a noose - but he can't boast about how he pulled it off.

Carell tells U.S. talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, "(Copperfield) was our co-ordinator, like our magic supervisor. He designed The Hangman trick (in the film) and we shot it without any sort of special effects...

"I can't (tell how it was done), I actually had to sign a confidentiality agreement that I would not reveal a trick, which to me was the coolest part of it, like, 'Hey, David Copperfield and I know this trick - nobody else!' There were other magicians onset who taught card tricks and stuff (too)."

Carell wasn't the only castmember to pick up helpful sleight of hand training from the job - co-star Olivia Wilde reveals she now knows how to become the perfect pickpocket thanks to the tutelage of another known magician, Jonathan Levit.

She tells the New York Daily News, "I learned a few things - like how to steal someone's watch and steal their wallet. But I'll save that for tough times. Next time I'm on the crowded F train (in New York), I'll know what to do."
