Stereophoncs Star Takes New Bike To Work 2555315 16th July 2008 STEREOPHONCS guitarist RICHARD JONES has taken delivery of a new motorcycle to help him cut the time it takes to get across London between the recording studio and his record company.

The bass player is "delighted" with his new Suzuki B-King muscle bike, which he claims "looks out of this world" and has helped him get to recording sessions on time.

"I've been using it to get to the recording studio, and it's dramatically dropped my journey times across town compared to the car, while being great fun too," he said.

Along with bandmates KELLY JONES and JAVIER WEYLER, Jones recently performed at Abbey Road Studio's for Channel 4's Live From Abbey Road series.

The trio performed tracks from their most recent album PULL THE PIN, as well as their 2005 hit DAKOTA.

Next month, the STEREOPHONICS will be wowing the crowds at this year's V Festival.

Leona Outsells The Rest 2559468 29th October 2007 X Factor winner Leona Lewis outsold the opposition to win her second number one hit with Bleeding Love.

The track, the debut single from her first album, easily overcame opposition from Take That's Rule the World, which entered at number two.

Last week's number one from the Sugababes, About You Now, slipped to four while McFly's The Heart Never Lies was at three.

But it was Lewis who stole all the plaudits, even winning a special word of praise from X Factor supremo Simon Cowell.

"The sales are incredible. I'm absolutely thrilled for Leona, she thoroughly deserves it," he told the BBC.

Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse's Valerie rounded off the top five.

In the album charts, the Hoosiers' The Trick to Life record entered at number one while Van Morrison's best-of, Still on Top – the Greatest Hits, was in at two.

Last week's number one, Pull the Pin by the Stereophonics, fell to six while Ronson's Version was up five places to number three.

Sugababes Fend Off Britney 2559588 22nd October 2007 The Sugababes have fended off competition from Britney Spears to retain the top spot in the UK singles chart.

About You Now, the latest song released by the British girl band, outsold Spears' new single Gimme More, which entered the top ten at number three.

The US singer achieved the chart position despite her disastrous debut performance of the song at the recent MTV video music awards, with Spears' comeback single the first to be released from her fifth album.

But while the Sugababes conquered the pop princess to achieve the chart crown, they were unable to hold on to the top album title for a second week.

Their album Change was toppled from the prime spot by Pull The Pin, the latest album from the Stereophonics, which entered the chart at number one. The title is the sixth studio album to be presented by the Welsh band, with the eagerly-awaited release the Stereophonics' first offering for two years.

Meanwhile Valerie, Mark Ronson's collaboration with neo-soul singer Amy Winehouse climbed one place to take the second spot in the singles chart. His new album Version also took eighth place in the album chart, while Winehouse saw her album Back to Black climb one to take the fourth spot.

Elsewhere in the singles chart The Hoosiers lifted one place to number four with Goodbye Mr A, while Ida Corr featuring Fedde Le Grand slipped three places to number five with Let Me Think About You.

Meanwhile Mika's latest offering, Happy Ending, nudged slowly up the singles chart – climbing from 16th place last week to take the seventh spot.

Jones Penned Song For Murdered Teenager 1769554 12th October 2007 STEREOPHONICS frontman KELLY JONES was compelled to write new track DAISY LANE after witnessing a murder in his neighbourhood. The singer was devastated following the death of a teenager outside his home in Wales - so decided to put his emotions into his music. He says, "It was something I saw looking out of my very own window. He had been involved in a bit of a scuffle and never made it home again. "For that to happen on my street, it affected me a lot. I had just become a dad and having my daughter had changed everything. "
Jones At Ease With Songwriting 1769571 12th October 2007 STEREOPHONICS frontman KELLY JONES insists he has become a master at songwriting - because he has learned how to live with his imperfections. The singer admits writing his first record while high on marijuana - but he is now finding it easier to find inspiration for the band's new material. He says, "The thing is knowing when to stop. you have to love the flaws or there's no point. "The first record I produced, I thought I was Phil f**king Spector and put about 50 million overdubs in it. "It was great fun - we were all stoned at the time and it all felt very relevant."
Fascinating Fact 4069 1769742 10th October 2007 STEREOPHONICS hellraiser KELLY JONES was protected by security guards at the Met Bar in London on Monday night (08Oct07) - a safety measure after injuring his arm in a drunken brawl last month.
Kelly Jones Loves Having Injured Hand 1770701 28th September 2007 STEREOPHONICS frontman KELLY JONES is reaping the benefits of slicing his arm open recently - his bandmates are doing all the work for him. The rocker got into a fight with security guards at the Vodafone Live Music Awards aftershow party last week (19Sep07) after he walked into the women's toilets. But he admits he is enjoying the rest. He says, "The rest of the band run around after me because I'm right-handed and so I can't do anything. It's like home help. All I can do is hold a drink."
Stereophonics Frontman Injures Arm 2560136 21st September 2007 Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones has said that he feared his guitar career could be over after a nightclub fracas left him with a deep gash in his arm.

The 33-year-old has reportedly undergone surgery twice after receiving the injury in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Jones sustained the gash outside London's Amika nightclub, where he and fellow band members were attending an after-show bash following the Vodafone Live Music awards.

A statement issued by the Stereophonics claimed that Jones was wounded after being involved in an "altercation with an over-zealous security guard".

Speaking to the Sun newspaper from his hospital bed, Jones said: "The wound is very serious."

He added: "The surgeons said if the gash had been just one millimetre nearer the tendon that could have been it — I might not have been able to pick up a guitar again."

The singer told the paper that he had gashed his arm on a glass vase as bouncers tried to remove him and a friend from the nightclub, after they attempted to speak to some female pals in the ladies' toilets.

As a result of Jones' injury the Stereophonics were forced to cancel an appearance in Cambridge to record Channel 4's Transmission show.

Still, fans of the Welsh band will be relieved to hear that the group's new single – It Means Nothing – will be released on Monday.

Stereophonics Drummer Back With New Band 1781809 22nd May 2007 Ex-STEREOPHONICS drummer STUART CABLE returns with a new band next month (Jun07) - four years after he was sacked from the Welsh rockers. Cable was asked to leave Stereophonics in 2003, reportedly because he was spending too much time concentrating on his burgeoning career as a radio presenter. His new band Killing For Company have landed a coveted support slot for The Who at The Liberty Stadium in Swansea, Wales on 1 June (07), and release their debut single Enemies three days later (04Jun07). Cable says, "The music is different to what I did with the Stereophonics. It's heavy but really anthemic."
Big Weekend Line-up Announced 2562497 30th April 2007 The line-up for Radio One's Big Weekend has been announced with Mika, the Fratellis and Razorlight set to play.

Coming to Preston on May 19th and 20th, 7,500 pairs of tickets for each day of the free music festival will be dished out to listeners who register online with priority given to local residents.

Picking the names from a hat, Chris Moyles and his comedy crew announced that indie rockers the Fratellis and Razorlight would be joining Wales' finest, the Stereophonics, and Grace Kelly singer Mika in Preston.

With some of the biggest music acts due to play, demand for the first British music festival of the year is expected to be massive.

As the biggest free ticketed event in Europe, the main stage will see a host of pop and rock stars strut their stuff while a dance party will be held in a separate tent. Breaking artists will also play the In New Music We Trust stage.

More acts are expected to be announced throughout the day by DJ Jo Whiley as listeners start to register for tickets.

Rocker Jones Caught By Police Urinating In Public 1807844 1st February 2007 STEREOPHONICS rocker KELLY JONES has been fined after police caught him urinating in public on a London street. The welsh singer was caught out while relieving himself during a recent night out in Camden and tried, unsuccessfully, to talk himself out of trouble. He reveals, "I said to the copper, 'You telling me you never had a p**s in the street?' He said that the people of Camden wouldn't appreciate me urinating on their streets. I said, 'I know that, that's why I live in Fulham.' He said, 'I'm taking you in.'"
Prolific Jones Writes Two Albums In One Go 1803406 30th January 2007 STEREOPHONICS frontman KELLY JONES was in such inspired form while working on the band's new album he wrote a solo LP at the same time. The singer is now releasing the disc, called ONLY THE NAMES HAVE BEEN CHANGED. The Welsh star explains, "It began off the cuff then, within days, I had ten songs."
Kelly Jones Releases Solo Album 2563822 29th January 2007 STEREOPHONICS frontman KELLY JONES has finally unveiled a solo project, which is available online this week.

Despite penning almost all of the STEREOPHONICS' songs for the last ten years, Jones has not yet embarked upon a solo career, maintaining that his heart is in what is essentially his band.

However, this new effort, while not exactly a huge break from the group, is a ten-song LP which proves he is interested in moving away from the Phonics' image.

But the Welshman insisted: "It's not about going solo. That's the last thing I ever want to do. It's more about making something spontaneous and making it spontaneously. Every song is a live take."

The songs were recorded in just 36 hours along with JIM LOWE, making up the LP ONLY THE NAMES HAVE BEEN CHANGED, in which every song is a girl's name.

Jones said on his MySpace profile: "We were recording the sixth STEREOPHONICS album last year and in-between takes I started doing these songs off the cuff.

"Three or four tracks in I realised that this could actually be somethingstrange how it's always little things that makes big things happen."

The album is currently only available online but will be released physically on March 26th.

Tom Jones Appeals For Burberry Factory Workers 2563948 21st January 2007 Singer Sir Tom Jones has appealed for the Burberry factory in his native south Wales to remain open.

The Burberry factory in Treorchy, south Wales, is due to close in March with the loss of 300 jobs. High-fashion giants Burberry claim the site is no longer viable.

Born in nearby Pontypridd, Sir Tom, 66, said he knew, "how important this factory has been to the community in the Rhondda" and urged, "the Burberry management to withdraw their plans to close their Treorchy factory."

The It's Not Unusual star has added to the debate which will be taken to the House of Commons this week. Rhondda MP Chris Bryant is expected to speak in a debate over Burberry's Royal Warrants.

Writer Irvin Welsh, ex-Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable and Notting Hill actor Rhys Ifans have all backed the Keep Burberry British campaign.

However, not all celebrities have been as supportive of the worker's cause. Supermodel Kate Moss has reportedly snubbed requests by the worker's campaign to cease her contract as the face of the company. The Croydon-born superstar was sent a petition signed by 200 workers but it is not thought that she read the letter.
