British bands Stereophonics and Razorlight have been announced as co-headliners of the Isle of Wight festival this June.
The Prodigy and Basement Jaxx are among acts already confirmed for the first day of the festival on Friday June 12th and organisers have now revealed Stereophonics will head to the Isle of Wight for their only UK festival appearance of 2009.
"The Isle of Wight festival is gonna be a great weekend," said frontman Kelly Jones. "We're recording most of the first half of this year so to step out of the studio and headline the festival this year with it being even bigger than when we played it a several years ago, will be a highlight for us!"
"It's gonna be rocking. Enough to make a bulldog wanna snap his chain!"
Wire to Wire stars Razorlight are currently on a UK tour and will follow their London and Manchester arena shows in May by taking to the main stage at Seaclose Park, Newport on Saturday June 13th, it was revealed today.
"We are proud to present two of the leading UK rock bands - it promises to be a night to remember," said festival organiser John Giddings after the announcement.
The Ting Tings and Pendulum were among the first acts to be announced for the 2009 Isle of Wight festival last month.
This year's event, the eighth since the festival was revived in 2002, takes place in Seaclose Park, Newport, from June 12th to June 14th.
Kaiser Chiefs and the Sex Pistols performed at the 2008 festival while artists including the Rolling Stones, the Police, Coldplay, the Who and David Bowie have also played at the annual event.
