Stephen Fry Advised To Lose Weight For The Sake Of His Health
British writer/funnyman Stephen Fry has been given a new course of medication and advised to lose weight in a bid to tackle his chronic acid reflux.
Fry has a hiatal hernia in his torso which causes food and drink to leak back into his throat, leading to regular bouts of painful heartburn.
He underwent an endoscopy procedure on Thursday (14Jun12) and was advised by medics to change his medication and shed the pounds to lessen his symptoms.
In a post on Twitter.com, Fry writes, "Endoscopy went well. Hiatus hernia causing lots of acid reflux but new dosage of Ppi (proton pump inhibitor medication) & time of administration will help. Plus weight loss!!!"
