Gwen Stefani's reunion with No Doubt was thrown into jeopardy after she fell out with bass player TONY KANAL over the recording of a song.
The group reunited last year (08) following a five-year hiatus after Stefani left the band to pursue a solo career.
But there was so much conflict left from the split, the rockers had a series of furious arguments when they headed back into the studio.
And Stefani admits they got to breaking point while attempting to record a cover of 1980s British band Adam and the Ants' hit Stand and Deliver - and she had a "heated conversation" with Kamal.
She says, "Everybody's making it like there's all this tension, you know, like I stepped away from the band and now they're jealous of me, and look, maybe there is a little bit of that... But some fights aren't really what they seem.
"I think it was a little about the song, and a little about our coming back together. There was this little air bubble that needed to pop, you know?"
