Colombian singer JUANES has been honoured in his native Carolina del Principe with a statue of his likeness.
The Latino hunk spent part of his childhood in the town and was recently named prince of the town - the first pop star to receive the accolade.
A statue of the 35-year-old was unveiled in Carolina del Principe's main square on Friday (12Oct07) - in front of the house where his late father once lived.
The singer met with dignitaries and Mayor Gabriel Angel Avendano, as part of the town's 220th anniversary celebrations.
The former president was believed by some to have been suffering from dementia during his second term in office from 1984 to 1988.
Not everyone is impressed with the singer's latest musical project.
