Jarvis Cocker - Stars Joke About Harmless Addictions During Russell Brand Comedy Supergig

Jarvis Cocker and Robbie Williams were among the stars who poked fun at their harmless "addictions" to video games and reality Tv during Russell Brand's U.K. comedy supergig in aid of drug charities on Wednesday (06Mar13).

Brand, a former drug user, attempted to show the lighter side of addiction by recruiting a host of famous faces to open up about the items they can't live without in comedy clips shown on big screens during the Give It Up for Comic Relief gig at London's Wembley Arena.

In mock-serious black-and-white footage, Pulp frontman Cocker revealed he lost his way after becoming hooked on the cellphone game Brick Breaker, admitting, "I happened to look through the menu of the phone and I saw it had a game there - Brick Breaker - seemed pretty innocent. The feeling of shame... Every session would go on for at least an hour and a half. I'm kind of four years clean, I would say. The way I gave up the game was I had to give up the phone. If only all dependencies were so easy to get rid of."

Pop star Williams later revealed he is dependent on reality Tv shows, insisting, "The one thing that I cannot give up... reality Tv. Celebrity Big Brother - that was it, it got me. (It makes me feel) complete. Will I ever be able to give reality television up? Not likely."

The event, held to benefit organisations which help drug addicts and alcoholics get clean, also featured stand-up sets from top comedians including Simon Amstell and Eddie Izzard, as well as performances from Noel Gallagher, Kasabian, Jessie J, and Nicole Scherzinger.
