Simmons hosted his annual Art for Life fundraiser at his East Hampton, New York home on Saturday and dozens of celebrities dug deep in support of the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, which gives underprivileged children better access to arts programmes.
The main event, an auction, led by TV personality Star Jones, saw Perry cough up $100,000 (£62,500), while other donations came from the Hero hitmaker and Cannon, who were also the evening's honourees.
America's The X Factor judge Antonio 'L.A.' Reid, R&B singers Ne-Yo and Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds, and actress Tika Sumpter were also in attendance, as was Grammy winner Anita Baker and Salt-N-Pepa, who performed a slew of classics including Shoop, Whatta Man and Push It.
