Gore Vidal - Stars Flock To New York Celebration Of Gore Vidal's Life

Gore Vidal was remembered at a star-studded tribute in New York on Thursday night (23Aug12) in a celebration of his extraordinary life.
Vidal passed away at his home in Los Angeles last month (Jul12) after suffering complications from pneumonia.
Stars including Susan Sarandon, Anjelica Huston, Michael Moore, Kristin Davis and Cybill Shepherd gathered at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater to listen to readings of his work and swap stories about their interaction with the writer.
The event was hosted by TV host DICk Cavett and Sex and the City star Davis, while Phyllis Newman and novelist Salman Rushdie talked to the audience about their memories of Vidal. Shepherd also read reviews of his acclaimed work as a playwright and essayist.
James Earl Jones, who stars in Vidal's play The Best Man, which is currently running at the Schoenfeld Theater, acted out a pivotal scene to bring the tribute to an end.
