Stars Brave Slime To Collect Kids' Awardsby Contributor | 01 April 2007
Heavyweights from the US music and film industries braved being covered in green slime at cable channel Nickelodeon's Kids Choice awards in Los Angeles last night.
Click goofball Adam Sandler won best actor in the 20th outing for the awards ceremony voted for entirely by Nickelodeon viewers, while Charlotte's Web star Dakota Fanning took home best actress.
The 13-year-old starlet just had enough time to say she considered all her fans as her "friends" before her acceptance speech was drowned out by loud music.
Host Justin Timberlake, 26, joked with the 10,000-strong audience of children in Los Angeles that he "felt like a grandpa", shortly after he had been sprayed with green slime.
As well as Timberlake and those brave enough to sit in the front row, celebrities such as Tobey Maguire, Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn also received the slime treatment.
Stiller himself won the wannabe award for the celebrity children would most like to be, while best female and male singer gongs went to Beyonce and Timberlake respectively.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest's award for best film was collected by Orlando Bloom and American Idol was named best TV show.
