The sequel to 2009's 'Star Trek' will begin shooting in January 2011.
The 'Star Trek' sequel will begin shooting January.
Bruce Greenwood - who played Captain Pike in the J.J. Abrams directed sci-fi action movie - confirms the sequel begins filming at the beginning of 2011, and he hopes to be involved.
He told Hollywood.com: "I just know that the plan is to film it in January, more than that, I don't know. I'm hustling for it... we'll see."
The 2009 reimagining of the classic TV show, featuring Chris Pine as Captain Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Commander Spock, was a huge box office success upon its release, taking $385 million and gaining an Oscar for Best Makeup.
The cast of the film are all on-board to work on the sequel and Zoe Saldana, who played linguist Uhura in the film, recently confessed she was hoping for more romantic scenes with Quinto.
She said: "There was a huge acceptance and excitement with what director J.J. Abrams and the writers - Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci - did with that twist.
"What they did was a huge gamble - and when it worked, it worked really, really well.
"It would be interesting to see what they are going to do with it. I really hope they keep the relationship and continue to explore it."
