Star Trek 2 To Shoot In 2010?

Simon Pegg thinks the 'Star Trek' sequel will start shooting by the end of 2010.

The 40-year-old actor, who plays engineer Scotty in the reimagining of the sci-fi franchise, has been pestering the film's director J.J. Abrams about when they will make the second movie.

He told EmpireOnline: "I bug J.J. on a regular basis and he just fobs me off. But I saw Zoe Saldana recently and she reckons that it's going to be soon.

"I would imagine it'll be toward the end of the year, but I can't guarantee it."

Earlier this year, Zachary Quinto, who plays Vulcan Spock in the movie, wanted to take two years off from the franchise.

He said: "I'm stepping away from 'Star Trek' for at least two years - no movies, no conventions, no anything for a while.

"I'm stepping away from that genre and exploring a lot of other territory."

'Star Trek' won the Best Make-up Oscar at this year's Academy Awards.

The as-yet-untitled sequel is due for release in 2012.
