Springsteen Wraps World Tour

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN and the E STREET BAND celebrated the end of their world tour by playing The Boss' debut album GREETINGS FROM ASBURY PARK, N.J. in its entirety for the first time ever.

The veteran rocker and his backing band hit the HSBC Arena in Buffalo, New York on Sunday (22Nov09) to conclude their Working on a Dream trek, which launched in April (09) and has taken the group across the U.S. and Europe.

And Springsteen, who hit the landmark age of 60 in September (09), proved he's still got a spring in his step by thrilling the crowd with a rollicking three-and-a-half hour show, which included every track from his 1973 debut.

He dedicated the night to guitarist Steven Van Zandt, who was celebrating his 59th birthday, and also paid tribute to late music executive John H. Hammond who gave him his first big break by offering him a record deal in 1972.

The Born to Run hitmaker also assured fans the group's upcoming hiatus won't spell the end of their careers.

He announced, "The E Street Band has come thousands of miles tonight to be here one last time - for a little while... We’re gonna say goodbye, but just for a little while... a very little while.

"It's been just about the best time in our band's work life. We want to thank you for supporting our old music, our new music, our tour."

Springsteen is expected to take at least a year off while the members of his band work on solo projects.
