Spike Lee's Michael Jackson Documentary 'Bad' In Post-production

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of Michael Jackson 's ground-breaking record 'Bad', Spike Lee has collaborated with the Estate of Michael Jackson and Sony Music to produce a documentary in reference to the album and it's respective world tour.

The film, which is currently in post-production, features a series of interviews, conducted by Lee himself, with a range of people who worked on the late superstar's renowned record and other projects from Oscar winning director martin scorcese and Joe Pytka, to choreographers Jeffrey Daniel and Vincent Paterson, recording engineer Matt Forger and keyboardist Greg Phillinganes. Also among those interviewed are contemporary artists heavily influenced by Jackson's legacy such as Kanye West, Mariah Carey, Cee Lo Green and Sheryl Crow who happened to be a backing singer on the 'Bad' tour.

The 'Bad' album earned Jackson a number one spot across the globe and won two Grammys. Lee has previously known the star through directing both 1996 short films of his 'They Don't Care About Us'. 'I deeply care about his legacy,' he says. 'With this 'Bad' project I was able to uncover just what made this such a huge, important coming of age in his career and unearth compelling stories surrounding the making of the album.'

Lee has made several successful documentaries include Emmy award winning 'When The Levees Broke: A Requiem In Four Acts' and Oscar nominated '4 Little Girls'. Co-executors of the Estate of Michael Jackson John Branca and John MCClain have expressed their feelings on Lee's work on the 'Bad' documentary: 'Spike Lee's genius as a storyteller combined with his passion and first-hand appreciation of Michael's artistry makes him the logical filmmaker to tell the story of 'Bad'. We are thrilled to be working with him on this unique project.'
