Spider-man Musical Delayed Until 2011
Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark, which features songs by U2 stars Bono and The Edge, was due to begin previews in New York on 14 November (10) ahead of a 21 December (10) opening.
But a series of onstage accidents has prompted a thorough review of safety procedures by state officials, who visited the set on Wednesday (03Nov10). Producers have now announced they have been forced to delay the show's opening amid the ongoing safety checks. Preview performances will now begin on 28 November (10) and the musical's curtain will officially go up three weeks later than expected on 11 January (11).
A statement from producer Michael Cohl reads, "Shows like ours, that embrace the challenge of opening on Broadway without an out-of-town tryout, often need to adjust their schedules along the way."
