Spector Pleads For Minimum Sentence

Lawyers for PHIL SPECTOR are demanding the shamed music mogul is handed a reduced prison term when he is sentenced for the murder of actress LANA CLARKSON - because the producer still insists he is innocent.
After a five-month retrial, Spector was found guilty last month (Apr09) of murdering Clarkson at his home in Alhambra, California in 2003. The producer and his legal team maintained throughout the trial that the actress had shot herself.
Prosecutors are demanding Spector serve at least 19 years behind bars for the crime.
But lawyers for the star filed papers on Wednesday (27May09) demanding the judge overseeing the case shows leniency at the sentencing hearing in Los Angeles on Friday (29May09) - because Spector still insists he is not guilty of killing the actress.
The court documents, filed by attorney Doron Weinberg, state Spector "asserts, as he has steadfastly maintained since February 3, 2003, that he did not kill Lana Clarkson, and he is not responsible for her death."
Spector, 69, faces a minimum sentence of 15 years to life in prison for second-degree murder and an extra three to four years for gun use.
