Soundgarden Make First Tv Appearance In 13 Years On Conan Show
SOUNDGARDEN, the American rock band who were one of the biggest acts in the grunge scene of the mid 1980's, made their first television appearance in 13 years on the CONAN O BRIEN show last night (November 9th 2010).
The group, who reunited earlier this year, played their new single 'Black Rain' before performing their classic song 'Hunted Down'. SOUNDGARDEN split arguably at their peak in 1997 after storming offstage at an infamous gig in Hawaii. Frontman CHRIS CORNELL went on to form the band AUDIOSLAVE and had success as a solo artist, while drummer MATT CAMERON joined PEARL JAM. However, in early 2010 they signalled their intention to reform, and played a small number of comeback gigs, including a headline performance at Lollapalooza. Speaking to CNN about the band's relevancy today, 46-year-old Cornell said, "A new generation of rock fans are discovering 30-year-old bands via a game like Guitar Hero. It's like trying to get a larger picture of what we do musically out there to a younger generation".
Also featuring on Conan's show, which was only the second episode of the new series, was the actor TOM HANKS, and comedian JACK MACBREYER.
