According to US Weekly magazine, Loeb popped the question during a visit to Chichen Itza, the Mayan ruins near the Rosewood Mayakoba resort where Sofia and her entourage are staying. On Monday evening (July 9, 2012), the actress showed off her diamond engagement ring on her friend Fernando Fiore's Twitter account. The forthcoming marriage will be the Columbian actress' second, after she wed Joe Gonzalez as a teen. The couple have a son (Manolo, 20), though divorced in 1993. She met Loeb - who considered a run for Florida's state senate in 2010 - at a Golden Globes party in 2010, though the pair split after "fighting for a long time" in early May. However, they eventually reunited and things appear to be going swimmingly for the pair. One insider dishing on their topsy-turvy relationship said, "They have a crazy relationship.They break up and make up. They fight and make up hard!".

Vergara is currently shooting Robert Rodriguez' forthcoming action-sequel MAChete Kills, which also stars Amber Heard and 'Anger Management' star Charlie Sheen as the President of the United States of America.
