Sofia Coppola ''appreciates'' the help of Louis Vuitton and Chanel for 'The Bling Ring'.
The filmmaker debuted her new Emma Watson-starring movie at Cannes Film Festival last week (16.05.13) - which follows real-life tale of teenage criminals who targeted dozens of A-list stars from 2008 to 2009 - and was thrilled when the labels leant her items to use as stolen goods, despite the negative connotations linked with the theme.
Sofia told WWD: ''I think it's not the ideal way they want to be portrayed. Louis Vuitton is this brand based on heritage and great craftsmanship, and that wasn't the side that we were celebrating.
''They wanted to be associated with my work, and they trusted me and helped me. There's a side that I appreciate about Louis Vuitton and Chanel, that they have this heritage and great quality, but the kids in the story are more interested in the bling aspect, kind of the status of those brands.''
Sofia has strong links to both brands after having interned at Chanel when she was just 15, after which she briefly set up her own clothing line Milkfed, and being close friends with Marc Jacobs of Louis Vuitton.
The brunette beauty hosted a party after the premiere in Cannes last week, which she threw with Louis Vuitton for her cast and crew.
Sofia has been spotted in several pieces by the French fashion house since the event began, including a short-sleeve blouse and trousers from their Cruise Collection and a small clutch bag from her 2012 capsule collection with the label.
