Snoop Dogg Turns His Back On Rap, Will Release Reggae Album 'Reincarnated'

Could it really be true? Has one of the world's greatest rappers and hip-hop stars really turned his back on the world of rap? Rumour has it that Snoop Dogg has not only decided to embrace reggae music, but has even changed his name, from Snoop Dogg to. wait for it. Snoop Lion. It appears, according to a Sky News report, that the rapper underwent some kind of epiphany on a trip to Jamaica where he found Rastafarianism and decided that he wanted to start making music that his "kids and grandparents can listen to." It's unclear whether or not he genuinely wants his kids and grandparents to listen to his music, or whether he simply wants to broaden his commercial appeal.

Either way, it looks as though a new album from Snoop is likely to be entitled 'Reincarnated' and will be released later this year. The former gagster rapper met with the press at a Caribbean restaurant in New York and revealed, with some confidence "I have always said I was Bob Marley reincarnated" and added "I feel I have always been a Rastafari. I just didn't have my third eye open, but it's wide open right now."

Snoop has apparently renounced the guns and violence of gangster rap and intends to embrace the more positive message of reggae, which he calls "the music of love." Oh and about that name-change. The Rastafarian priest helped him out with that. He told him his name was no longer Dogg, but 'Lion.' He's been given the green light to keep the 'Snoop' though, it would seem.
