Snoop Dogg To Play Father In Nbc Family Sitcom
The role is familiar territory for the rapper, who starred in his own reality series 'Snoop Dogg's Father Hood', chronicling family life with his three children. He also made a guest appearance as 'Kenny the Lawyer' on Reo's Fox sitcom 'Brothers' and was recently cast in the title role of movie 'The Legend of Fillmore Slim'. Nbc has a history of casting high profile rappers in sitcom projects - the network scored a huge hit in the 1990's with 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' starring a young Will Smith. However, the success was not replicated for 2001's poorly received untitled sitcom starring R&B star Sisqo and comedy legend Bob Newhart. Writer Reo will be hoping the show emulates the success of his previous sitcoms, 'Everybody Hates Chris', 'My Wife and Kids' and 'Blossom'.
In 2010, Snoop Dogg starred opposite Danny Glover in the American drama 'Down for Life', about a 15-years-old Latino gang leader in Los Angeles. The movie premiered at the Toronto Film Festival where it received strong reviews.
