Iconic rap group Slum Village is donating all proceeds from its new single to the family of late producer and bandmate J Dilla.
The hip-hop stars unveiled a new track, titled Yes Yes, earlier this month (Feb14), on what would have been Dilla's 40th birthday, and they have now revealed the funds raised from the song's release will benefit the beatmaker's young children.
A statement issued by Joylette, the mother of Dilla's youngest daughter Ja' May Yancey, reads: "I would like to thank everyone for the love and support and Slum Village and Yancey Media Group for donating the proceeds from this single to Dilla's daughters."
The producer died in 2006 at the age of 32 after suffering complications from autoimmune disease lupus.
A sleekly made thriller with a sparky sense of humour, this is also a rare action movie that has something important to say.
