Slipknot Releasing First Album Since Death Of Bassist

Next month, Slipknot will be releasing their first album since the death of their bass player Paul Gray in 2010, Reuters have reported today (June 11, 2012). The 'best-of' album, entitled 'Antennas To Hell', will be released on July 24, 2012 and will feature some of their biggest-selling singles, as well as a Dvd of their 2009 Download Festival show, video montages and notes on the band's career.

Talking about the forthcoming release, Shawn 'Clown' Crahan told Reuters "I think every song Slipknot has ever written is a greatest hit, so it was hard (to narrow it down), but at the same time there's only four records, so we did stick a couple of live songs on." Talking about life in the band since Gray's accidental death by overdose, Crahan explained "We as a band have never decided to go away. We've never even talked about it; it's not even a question. The only question was how long it was going to take each individual member to accept what's happened and feel comfortable with moving on in the record area.Paul was the major part of writing records. It's not only my brother that I'm not seeing, but it's also what he brought to the table."

To coincide with the release of the album, Slipknot will also be headlining their very own festival, which will be known as Knotfest. The event will take place on August 17, 2012 in Council Bluffs, Iowa and Minneapolis, Minnesota on August 18.
