Sleepwalking Supergrass Bassist Breaks Back

by | 31 August 2007

Supergrass' bassist unexpectedly forced his bandmates to change their gig plans – by sleepwalking out of a first-floor window.

Mick Quinn was dozing in his villa in the south of France, happily sleeping off the hard work of helping complete Supergrass' sixth studio album, when the accident occurred.

His subconsciousness decided the best course of action would be to sleepwalk out of the window. Shortly afterwards, helpers decided the best course of action would be a rushed trip to the specialist spinal unit in Toulouse.

According to reports two vertebrae were broken in the fall and Quinn also suffered a smashed heel, but he is expected to make a full recovery.

"We hope the crazy fool gets back on his feet as soon as possible," Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes said.

"I'm sure he'll make a full recovery; he's a tough cookie."

For now the band's plans have had to be put on hold – including their September 23rd gig at the Oxford Carling Academy.
