Howard Stern - 'Sleazy' Howard Stern Could Damage 'America's Got Talent'?
Howard Stern 's addition to the judging panel of Nbc's 'America's Got Talent' might have given the network an initial buzz of publicity, but the long term effects of employing the controversial shock jockey could be rather more detrimental according to the President of the Parents Television Council Tim Winter.
Winter reportedly sent a letter to the 91 companies that had previously bought advertising time in the show, according to Cnn, in which he wrote "Nbc's decision to add Mr. Stern to Agt will likely result in a sharp increase in explicit content, and we urge you to be mindful when considering a media buy." Stern is replacing Piers Morgan on the show, as was announced in December. It's a decision the Ptc haven't been fans of at all.
Winter added, "Stern's reputation for sleaze and misogyny is well known; and to our knowledge his only previous judging experience consisted of looking at insecure, naked young women and telling them whether or not they were hot enough to pose for Playboy," before hinting that a boycott on anyone who did consider buying advertising time on the program could well happen. "I assure you that every advertiser on 'America's Got Talent' will be held publicly accountable for underwriting any of the inevitably vile antics of Howard Stern. 'America's Got Talent' is one of the few prime time television shows that offer American families a brief respite from the otherwise-ubiquitous stream of violent, profane and sexually explicit content."
