Sky One Captures Prison Break

06 June 2007
Sky One has captured the rights to broadcast the hit US show Prison Break from terrestrial broadcaster Five.

Prison Break, which is currently in production for a third series, involves a man placed on death row who was sprung from prison by his brother. The second season currently finds them on the run from the US authorities.

Sky One has also signed an agreement to show the first two seasons of Journeyman, which is produced and written by members of the team who worked on the Emmy award-winning The West Wing.

David Smyth, head of acquisitions at Sky One, Two and Three, said: "Prison Break, originally launched in 2005, instantly became a global success captivating audiences with its plot twists.

"The edge of the seat drama is the perfect addition to our must-see slate of US programming. The Journeyman pilot was a stand-out pilot at the LA Screenings and we're confident that the series will resonate with Sky One's audience."

Prison Break stars Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller as the two brothers along with William Fichtner as the federal agent chasing the escaped prisoners.

The new series of Jouneyman will feature Kevin McKidd, who previously starred in Trainspotting, along with Gretchen Egolf and Moon Bloodgood.
