Sir Paul Mccartney Thanks Fans For Wedding Well Wishes

Newlywed Sir Paul McCartney has taken to the Internet to thank fans for their "wonderful greetings" following his wedding to NANCY SHEVELL, and share photos of the couple's big day.

The Beatles legend exchanged vows with American heiress Shevell at a London registry office last weekend (09Oct11) as fans and onlookers cheered on the happy couple and showered them with confetti.

The rocker was inundated with warm messages of support from devotees and he has now expressed his gratitude in a special post on his website.

In a blog post titled Our Wedding Day!, MCCartney writes, "Nancy and I want to thank everybody for the wonderful greetings and messages of goodwill that we received. We had a really great day with family and friends; it was relaxed, fun, emotional, heartfelt and a total pleasure for the two of us and everyone involved."

The usually-private MCCartney also published a number of pictures of the newlyweds, before taking the unusual step of clearing up some inaccurate details about his wedding day.

He adds, "You may have read, in the media, some of the details about our happy day but, as not all of what was reported was totally true, here are a couple of corrections for those of you who like to know the truth: It was said that my brother, Mike, was my best man. In fact, it was my lovely son, James, who did me proud. It was also reported that I sang Let It Be and Let Me Roll It at the reception but, in actual fact, that’s not true and I think the reporters may have got confused by hearing a few of my other songs being played by our DJ for the night, Mark Ronson, who, by the way, did a sensational job, keeping us all bopping till the early hours of the morning."

The marriage is MCCartney's third - his first wife, Linda, died of cancer in 1998, and the star divorced Heather Mills in 2008. Shevell has been married once before.
