Sir Paul Mccartney Re-arranged Gigs For Roger Daltrey's Charity Concert
The Who frontman founded the annual Teenage Cancer Trust shows in 2000 and announced last month (Feb12) that MCCartney, Pulp, Jessie J and Florence and the MAChine had signed up for this year's (12) extravaganza.
Daltrey's now revealed MCCartney was set to play in 2011 but had to pull out due to scheduling conflicts - so he did everything possible to ensure he was available for this year's gigs at London's Royal Albert Hall.
Daltrey tells Britain's The Sun, "Sir Paul has been brilliant. We almost got him last year but he couldn't make the date work. He said, 'I'll be there for you next year, Rog' - and here he is.
"He did a few extra shows in Europe to make it work so no one had to foot the bill of getting his show here - and that means a lot. To see his full arena show in the Albert Hall will be a once-in-a-lifetime thing. He's the most iconic figure in the world."
MCCartney will kick off the concert series with his gig on Thursday (29Mar12).
