Sir Elton John is showing his support for Britain's troops by donating tickets for one of his upcoming U.K. shows to soldiers who have served in Afghanistan.
The music legend was recently forced to scrap a number of concerts in Las Vegas to recover from a serious respiratory infection, but he is due back on stage over the weekend (02-03Jun12) for a show in Somerset, England.
Sir Elton, who will also perform at Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee concert in London on Monday (04Jun12), is now donating a number of tickets to his gig in Birmingham, England on 15 June (12) to a soldiers' charity.
Troops who have served during the war in Afghanistan will be given seats for the show at the city's LG Arena through the Tickets for Troops organisation.
A spokesman for the organisation says, "Tickets for Troops are extremely grateful to Sir Elton John... This is yet another mark of the country's appreciation for the sacrifices the marvellous men and women of Her Majesty's Armed Forces make on our behalf. I hope the troops who receive these prestigious tickets have the most enjoyable time."
