Russian Pop Singer/actress Zhanna Friske Has Died, Aged 40.
The star, born Jeanna Friske, died on Monday (15Jun15) after a battle with brain cancer. Friske was diagnosed with the disease in January (14) while pregnant with her first child.
She declined chemotherapy, and only sought treatment after her baby boy was born in April (14). However, her condition continued to deteriorate.
Friske found fame as a member of the Russian girl-group Blestyashchie, which translates to The Shining Ones, in the late 1990s. She left the band in 2003 to embark on a solo career and released one album in 2005 and a string of singles until 2012.
She also had a starring role in Russian horror films Night Watch and Day Watch in 2004 and 2006 and appeared in a number of reality TV shows.
