Simpson Turns Her Back On Country
JESSICA SIMPSON's love affair with country music appears to be over - she has parted company with her Nashville, Tennessee-based record label.
Her representative has confirmed Simpson is no longer on Sony Nashville's roster, but insists the singer has not been dropped by label bosses.
The spokesman tells UsMagazine.com, "She was on loan to Sony Nashville for her country album."
The news comes just two days after Simpson was a surprise no-show at the Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas. The singer announced the nominations earlier this year (09).
Simpson's country debut, Do You Know, has sold less than 200,000 copies.
In launching her country career last year (08), Simpson told the media, "I am a country girl. I grew up in Texas, and country music was what I listened to."
During her country period, she toured with Rascal Flatts and enjoyed a hit single with Come On Over.
