Singer/songwriter PAUL SIMON is at the centre of a bizarre fraud attempt after a New Yorker attempted to withdraw $4,300 (£2,688) from the star's account at a Citibank.
Rafael Ramos reportedly showed up at the bank with a forged credit card and driving license, and the real Simon's social security number - but the teller quickly realised the man before her wasn't the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame star, and refused to give him the cash.
The 54 year old then made a dash for it, but was picked up by police moments later.
The bogus Paul Simon was charged with attempted larceny, according to the New York Post.
It’s unclear how Ramos managed to get Simon’s social security and bank account number.
