Simon Cowell's 'Britain's Got Talent' Finally Defeats 'The Voice'

Simon Cowell's 'Britain's Got Talent' narrowly defeated 'The Voice' in the ratings battle on Saturday night (28.04.12).

Bosses of the ITV1 talent show - which is judged by the music mogul, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Amanda Holden - were ''delighted'' that the programme peaked at 10.7 million viewers, above 'The Voice's 10.3 million peak, while 'BGT' attracted an average of 9.4 million viewers, beating its rival BBC One show by 0.1 million.

An ITV spokesperson said: '''Britain's Got Talent' is packed with thrills and spills, tears and laughter and we are delighted that it consistently continues to be such a firm favourite with viewers.''

Despite 'The Voice' - which is judged by Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am, Jessie J and Danny O'Donoghue - losing 10 per cent of its viewership since the live shows started, bosses are relieved the figure is not higher as a much bigger slump occurred on the US version of the programme when the blind audition stages ended.

A source told The Sun newspaper: ''In America The Voice's ratings dipped by 40 per cent when the live shows started. Luckily 'The Voice' in the UK has only lost around ten per cent.

''But it's still a worry - and it's being blamed on the red chairs. Now we're in the live shows the 'will-they-won't-they?' turnaround gimmick is all over.

''Viewers loved the theatre of the chairs, the buzzers and the new faces.''
