Simon Cowell Ends Niall Horan's Hair Dye Plans

Simon Cowell has banned One Direction's Niall Horan from dying his blond hair black.

The 18-year-old singer reportedly text the music mogul asking if it would be alright to try out a New Look, and was met with a stern 'no'.

A source told The Sun newspaper: ''Simon still controls a lot about the band down to the finest detail.

''Niall was desperate to get rid of his blond locks and go black just for an experiment, like loads of normal teens.

''Luckily, he had the sense to ask Simon first because he knows how he works. He put in a text to him asking if he could change his hair colour. Simon was straight back on to him with a short reply, 'No way'. ''

The British boy band were put together by Simon on the 2010 series of the UK version of 'The X Factor', and recently joked that their boss is so rich because he is very frugal with the cash he makes from his TV shows and pop acts.

Niall quipped: ''Simon Cowell is tight. That's why he's so successful - he's able to keep his money to himself. We're paid in jelly beans.''
