"We don't know what will happen on this show and you don't know if it will work, but it does work," said Cowell at a promotional event, "I think [The Voice] have got themselves in a mess. They need to get their sense of humour back. They are winding this up to be a big battle, but it's not. The shows go out at the same time and the better one wins. And in terms of credibility, it's down to being good and being successful," he added "I will back my talent against their talent this year, that's for sure."

Cowell was supported by his 'Britain's Got Talent' judge David Walliams who commented "There's nothing more credible than success. Susan Boyle has sold something like 25 million records. I think that speaks for itself." Cowell also put the limelight back on his decision to pluck Alesha Dixon from the Bbc's 'Strictly Come Dancing,' and admitted it was done to spite his rivals. "Once we decided we wanted four people on the panel, I thought I'd love Alesha to join. There is so much rivalry with Strictly and X Factor - they're always messing around with the schedule and The Voice was 100 per cent intended as a competing show to X Factor," he commented, finishing "So I thought, 'You know what, let's have some fun.'
