Sigel To Turn Himself Into Police Over Rental Car Dispute
08 October 2007Police claim Sigel - real name Dwight Grant - hired a 2007 Nissan Altima from Payless Car Rental in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in July (07) but didn't return the vehicle by the 13 August (07) due date or contact the company.
The firm, which continued to charge Sigel's credit car, then reported the car stolen on 6 September (07).
According to police, when they went to Sigel's home in the city on Friday (05Oct07) to arrest him for failing to return the car and amassing $5,000 (GBP2,500) in late fees, someone took the vehicle back to Payless Car Rental.
Sigel's attorney Fortunato Perri claims he's trying to arrange a time for his client to surrender to police on Monday.
He says, "We've learned that a warrant was issued for his arrest for failure to return a vehicle. Apparently there was some misunderstanding over when it was to be returned or whether or not payment was continuing to be made.
"The car has (now) been returned. And whatever money is owed to the company has been paid or will be paid shortly."
