A production worker has been arrested on suspicion of attacking Bollywood star Shruti Haasan at her apartment in Mumbai, India last week (ends22Nov13).
The 27-year-old actress was home alone when a man allegedly tried to barge his way inside the property after ringing the doorbell on 19 November (13). She reportedly managed to force him out after his hand became trapped in the front door.
Ashok Shankar Trimukhe, 45, who works on film sets as a gofer, was arrested by Bandra Police on Sunday (24Nov13) and has since been booked on charges including assault, house trespass and stalking.
According to the Press Trust of India, Trimukhe claims he visited the actress' home to speak with her about a job, but the actress has refuted the story.
A statement released by Haasan reads, "In all the time this man was on the set, he never approached me or my staff for a job. If he had approached us for a job we would have dealt with it appropriately.
"But as a single woman living alone in Mumbai, I take serious offence to someone coming to my house and trying to barge through my door. I trust the Mumbai police will know best how to deal with such an act."
