Shia Labeouf - Shia Labeouf Airs Private Orphans Emails With Alec Baldwin

Shia Labeouf has gone public with private emails between his Orphans co-star Alec Baldwin and director Daniel Sullivan in a bid to explain his sudden decision to leave the Broadway show.

The Transformers star was due to make his New York stage debut opposite Baldwin and Tom Sturridge next month (Mar13) but producers revealed on Wednesday (20Feb13) that he had dropped out of the production due to "creative differences".

Sharing his side of the story, LaBeouf took to Twitter.com and posted a series of screen shots of email exchanges between himself and others, with email addresses allegedly belonging to Sullivan, Baldwin and playwright Lyle Kessler.

In one exchange, the young actor apologises to Baldwin "for my part of a dis-agreeable (sic) situation" while Sullivan's reported response reads, "I'm too old for disagreeable situations. you're one hell of a great actor. Alec is who he is. you are who you are. you two are incompatible. i should have known it. this one will haunt me. you tried to warn me. you said you were a different breed. i didn't get it."

Baldwin writes, "I've been through this before. It's been a while. And perhaps some of the particulars are different. But it comes down to the fact that what we all do now is critical. Perhaps especially for you. When the change comes, how do we handle it, whether it be good or bad? What do we learn?"

He adds, "I don't have an unkind word to say about you. You have my word," to which LaBeouf replies, "same... good luck on the play. you'll be great."

The revival of Lyle Kessler's 1983 play is still scheduled to open for previews at the Schoenfeld Theatre in New York on 19 March (13). The production will officially launch on 7 April (13).

A replacement for LaBeouf has not yet been named.
