Sheryl Crow - Sheryl Crow's Broadway Musical Delayed

The opening of singer Sheryl Crow's new Broadway musical Diner has been delayed until autumn (13) due to a lack of funding.

Crow signed on to supply the music and lyrics for the theatre adaptation of Kevin Bacon and Mickey Rourke's 1982 hit film, which was set to premiere in the Big Apple on 10 April (13), but now producers have pushed back the debut to allow for script modifications and to give investors more time to provide financial support.

Executive Scott Zeiger says, "Everyone just feels it needs more work to be better, and we want it to be the best. We wanted to do the creative work without a spring opening being a gun to our heads. And we want to raise all the money, so we can open on Broadway without worrying about making budget and having reserve funds if ticket sales are slow at first...

"Early fall dates work better for all involved and an announcement of Broadway theatre and dates will be forthcoming."

Diner will be directed by Nice Work If You Can Get It's Kathleen Marshall.
