Sheryl Crow - 'Sheryl Crow On Lance Armstrong' Could Be Key To Doping Case

So here's an interesting development in the on-going saga between the US Anti-Doping Agency, federal officials and seven-time Tour de France winning cycling Lance Armstrong: Sheryl Crow might be the key to it all! Until recently Armstrong has gone down as one of the greatest cyclists of all time after fighting back from cancer to take the notoriously difficult cycling road race's famous yellow jersey on seven occasions. However, he's had to face accusations of doping all the while, and those calls have been so strong, from the Usada in particular, that he's given up fighting his name, though still insisting his innocence - something seen by many as an admission of guilt nonetheless, done so in a way as to not lose too much face.
Sheryl Crow 's involvement has been made public by the New York Daily News, who've revealed that federal officials interviewed her last year regarding Armstrong's suspected doping. Crow dated the 40 year-old for three years at the beginning of the millennium, with the pair even engaged at one point, and as such it's assume that she was fully aware of any illicit activity on his part.
Crow was interviewed in 2011, not long before a grand jury probe into Armstrong's dealings was abruptly dropped with no charges being made - maybe she had more information for them that would've changed their case? If the singer does know anything, it's likely she'll have to confess, and it'll add to the tide of evidence that now suggests that one of the once most looked up to sportsmen of all time, is set for an almighty fall, possibly taking the sport of cycling with him.

Get Ready For Tortuga Music Festival 2014 Headlined By Eric Church And Luke Bryan 4143150 News

Tortuga Music Festival 2014

Following the excitement of the Academy of Country Music Awards at the weekend, it's only right to give a little reminder of what's coming next weekend: Tortuga Music Festival hits Fort Lauderdale, Florida on April 12th-13th 2014!

It may be over 600 miles away from its namesake location in Haiti, but Florida's sandy Fort Lauderdale Beach Park nonetheless provides a perfect sun-soaked setting for the country, rock and roots event. Not only have you got a beautiful location and, of course, an incredible line-up, but by attending this festival you'll also be making a significant contribution to the Rock The Ocean Foundation - helping to raise money for ocean related research, conservation and education.

This year, the headline acts are Eric Church and Luke Bryan, who have both made star turns with number one albums in 2014 and 2013 respectively and the latter of whom landed two ACM nominations for Entertainer Of The Year and Male Vocalist Of The Year. Both artists are currently on a professional par, with both being on their fourth studio albums (Eric with 'The Outsiders' and Luke with 'Crash My Party') which have managed to top charts in the US and Canada.

Then we have the veteran country superstars led by Hank Williams, Jr., alongside Florida rockers 38 Special, San Francisco's Train and the ever phenomenal Sheryl Crow who also received a nod at the ACM Awards with a well-deserved nomination for Female Vocalist Of The Year.

From there, we'll also be seeing some no doubt wonderful performances from several country newcomers. Brett Eldredge (ACM's New Artist Of The Year nominee) released his debut album 'Bring You Back' last summer to much acclaim and a number two spot on the US Country chart, while Eric Paslay and Cole Swindell have only just emerged with their debuts released in February. It's truly heartwarming to see old and new mixing so seamlessly on one line-up - especially with it being so short compared to plenty of other festivals.

But while country music provides the festival's main atmosphere, let's not forget that taste of classic roots that we'll be getting over the course of the weekend. A main highlight in this department is reggae star Ziggy Marley who has become a bit of a legend in his own right and will soon be unveiling his latest solo album 'Fly Rasta' later this month. Also touching on the reggae feel is San Diego collective Slightly Stoopid who are set to hit the road across North America for their Summer Sessions Tour later this year.

The full line-up for Tortuga Music Festival is below and you can still purchase last minute tickets at $165 for two-day general admission, with VIP and Super VIP passes at $799 and $1299 respectively.

Schoolboy Blues: Mick Jagger Wanted To Be A Teacher! 3739096 News

Mick Jagger considered being a teacher, a politician and a journalist. 'Start Me Up' singer revealed his early career plans during a televised interview. Speaking on the Today programme, The Rolling Stones singer said a career as "a schoolteacher would have been very gratifying". Had the singer gone on to be a teacher he would have kept his families' tradition as both his father and grandfather were teachers.

Teaching is surprisingly more rock and roll than you'd expect. Sting was a teacher before he became a hit in the 80's, as was Sheryl Crow, Gene Simmons, Brian May, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel.

He said "there are millions of things you would have loved to have done" including going into politics and, conveniently speaking to a journalist (nothing like buttering a presenter up) he claims he also wanted to be "a journalist". However he did only think about it "once".

He may be an aged rock star but Jagger has sufficient qualifications. All he'd have to do is return to the London School of Economics where he studied before leaving to become one of world's most famous, and certainly the largest mouthed, rock-star.

Brian May
Queen guitarist Brian May, at the 2013 Laurence Olivier Awards, was a teacher.

On his music career Jagger said he is "pleased with what I've done" and that despite being "intellectually undemanding", he "made the best" of being a rock star.

Since their launch in 1962 the band has accumulated, between them, £200 million (approximately $350 million). This does not include Jagger's own fortune accumulated from his solo career.

The Rolling Stones are headlining at Glastonbury Festival this year, the first time they have ever done so.

Stevie Nicks And Sheryl Crow Struggling To Find Boyfriends 3712933 News

Singer Stevie Nicks is convinced she and her longtime pal Sheryl Crow are destined to be single for the rest of their lives because they are too famous to find dates.

Nicks has been married once, to her tragic best friend's widower, Kim Anderson, while Crow, who has romanced the likes of Owen Wilson and Lance Armstrong, is a single mother with two young adopted children.

The pair has been looking for love and a partner to settle down with for years, but the Landslide hitmaker admits it's difficult for them to meet suitors due to their celebrity.

She tells New York Magazine, "When we were really young, it was a lot easier... I mean, where am I gonna meet somebody?... Like, I'm gonna go to a bar? And hang out?"

And Nicks just wishes they could use a matchmaking service - joking about the absurdity of creating an online profile, she says, "Hi! My name is Stevie Nicks, and I'm looking for somebody that is no more than five years older than me. Please no health problems, no diabetes, no heart disease, no gout, please, no bipolar; if you're on an antidepressant, not good.

"(Or) 'Hi! You know, I'm in a band called Fleetwood Mac, and, you know, I'm looking for, like, a guy who's, like, tall... I don't really date younger men, so, you know, anywhere, from, I guess I could go as young as 58. And as old as 68. Not 70. Just 68. And, um, I like to travel, but I have an assistant, and she always has to come with me because I really gave up packing a long time ago."

Crow feels the same way: "It is hard! Relationships are hard enough, but to be a strong woman who's also in front of a large audience of people who are trying to connect with you - it's threatening."

Warfare on 'The Voice' At Top 8 Pull Out All The Stops 3690631 News

The top eight singers on The Voice took their performances to another level on Monday evening (May 27, 2013), with fire, feather and cowboy boots playing prominent roles in a number of blinged up turns. Blake Shelton had kicked off the show with a rendition of his latest hit 'Round Here,' though things soon got serious, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

On Team Adam Levine, it was Judith Hill who seriously impressed with a reinterpreated rendition of Will.i.am and Justin Bieber's #ThatPower. "That hair is badass - I guarantee you, Adam has been on the phone with Cee Lo [Green] this week!" said Shelton of Judith's huge mohawk. Sarah Simmons struggled a little with Gotye's 'Somebody That I Used To Know' while Amber Carrington didn't quite manage to convey the majesty of Adele's Oscar winning track 'Skyfall.'

On Team Blake, Holly Tucker chose to perform 'Done' by the Band Perry and ultimately succeeded. "There were big notes in this song, and you hit them and took them up to another level," said Usher. Over on Team Shakira, Sasha Allen was assigned 'Without You' by David Guetta and Usher, "I started comparing myself to Sasha as a singer, and that's not good [for me]," said Shelton. "I think you bought Shakira another week, for sure."

Following a special performance from guest mentor Sheryl Crow, the two singers with the lowest votes will be sent home on Tuesday night, at 9pm on NBC. Who do you think will be eliminated?

Sheryl Crow And Lance: Country Star Knew About Doping? 3461835 News

Sheryl Crow and Lance Armstrong dated from 2003 until 2006, before breaking off their engagement. However, during the relationship, Armstrong rode in the Tour de France twice - and won both times. It has since emerged that the disgraced cycling took performance enhancing drugs during both races, catapulting country singer Crow into the spotlight.

Celebuzz.com has learned that the nine-time Grammy winner was named twice in affidavits submitted to the United States Anti-Doping Association, which blew the whistle on the Tour de France winner. According to Armstrong's former teammate Frankie Andreu, the cyclist summoned him to a room in 2004 in a bid to persuade him to convince his wife Betsy to sign a statement retracting her claim that Armstrong told doctors treating him for cancer that he'd taken steroids, human growth hormone, cortisone and EPO. The hospital admission was first reported in a 2004 book co-written by Irish journalist David Walsh titled L.A. Confidentiel, which was only published in in French. In it, Andreu claimed "Lance called me to his room to discuss the situation. He told me that Bill Stapleton (Armstrong's agent) wanted to talk to me about the hospital room and have my wife sign a statement of support for Lance saying the hospital incident did not happen. His girlfriend at the time, Sheryl Crow, was in the room and I felt uncomfortable talking about this in front of her so I did not say much."

It's the first time that Crow, 50, has been directly implicated in Armstrong's doping conspiracy. In an interview to air on Tuesday (January 22, 2013), the country singer tells Entertainment Tonight, "I think that honesty is always the best bet and that the truth will set you free. To carry around a weight like that would be devastating in the long run." She said she caught "bits and pieces" of Armstrong's much-hyped interview with Oprah Winfrey last week.

Sheryl Crow Gets Behind New Food Campaign To Help Poor Families 3303023 News

Sheryl Crow is getting behind a new campaign to ensure that America's poorest families have access to healthy meals. The writer of hits like All I Wanna Do, A Change Would Do You Good and Everyday Is A Winding Road has recently been lending a hand at food banks around New York and found herself stunned to see working-class parents having to approach organisers for help to feed their children.

Galvanised, Crow has now started to work with anti-hunger organisations Feeding America and One A Day's Nutrition Mission to ensure that low-income families in the US can get healthy food on the table for them and their children. Talking to Fitness magazine, Crow said "It was eye opening. It's not just homeless people going there. It's moms who need to feed their kids. But people don't talk about it. They're embarrassed." Talking about how little it would take for people to make a huge difference, she continued "Just one dollar can equal eight meals. You can donate a can of food to your food shelter. A can of beans or corn costs less than a dollar but it goes a long way. You can also volunteer your time at a food bank."
