Sherlock Season Three Is Finally On The Way!
Sherlock Season three by Christmas?
Sherlock Holmes Season three has been talked about, rumoured and delayed more than anyone would care to remember, but finally, production has started. The show’s stars, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman were at the read through for the first script on Monday, March 11th.
Considering it’s been so long since season 2, and just how successful the show’s been, this comes as fantastic news to fans of the modern adaptation. Fans of Andrew Scott’s Moriarty should look away now, though. "I don't want [Sherlock] to turn into a show that's about one villain and one hero," Steven Moffat this time last year. "Moriarty was great because he was a surprise. Every time you bring him back he won't be as big a surprise." So it doesn’t look that that particular character will be making a comeback. The return of Cumberbatch and Freeman should be enough to appease troubled fans, though. The pair have been off gallivanting through space and middle earth respectively, but seem ready to apply their detective skills to route out the scourges of London once more.
Ready for Season 3 - Cumberbatch
Moffat, Mark Gatiss and Steve Thompson are set, once again, to pen the scripts for the three feature-length adventures, but Paul McGuigan – the director of 4/6 Sherlocks so far – is off stateside for new projects. Colm McCarthy – the man behind Doctor Who and Ripper Street - and Jeremy Lovering -director of Spooks – will be behind the cameras instead. We still don't know when we'll actually get to see the new Sherlock, though, but late this year sounds like a good bet.
