Sherlock Holmes Returns

Legendary literary sleuth SHERLOCK HOLMES is to be brought back to life in a new book - the first to be approved by the estate of SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE since his death in 1930.
Conan Doyle shot to fame in the 1880s with his popular detective tales, which spawned 56 short stories and four novels, the last of which was published in 1927.
Many other authors have attempted to follow up the Holmes tales with their own unofficial books, but Conan Doyle's estate has now chosen a writer to officially continue his legacy.
Anthony Horowitz, famed for creating the Alex Rider spy novels which spawned Alex Pettyfer's 2006 movie Stormbreaker, has been hired to write a new full-length Sherlock Holmes book - and he admits the job is a dream come true.
He says, "I fell in love with the Sherlock Holmes stories when I was 16 and I've read them many times since. I simply couldn't resist this opportunity to write a brand new adventure for this iconic figure. My aim is to produce a first-rate mystery for a modern audience while remaining absolutely true to the spirit of the original."
The currently untitled novel will be published in September (11).
