Charlie Sheen - Sheen Pleads Guilty, Sentenced To Rehab

CHARLIE SHEEN is heading to rehab for 30 days after pleading guilty to a charge of misdemeanour assault in a Colorado courtroom on Monday (02Aug10).

The Two and a Half Men star was originally expected to start a 30-day sentence at Pitkin County Jail in Colorado on 7 June (10), but issues regarding his plea deal prompted officials to stall the case, relating to a Christmas Day (25Dec09) fight with wife Brooke Mueller.

It was continued to 12 July (10) before being rescheduled again.

Sheen finally appeared in an Aspen courtroom on Monday and pleaded guilty to third-degree assault, in exchange for two other charges - one felony menacing charge and one criminal mischief charge - being dropped.

A judge sentenced Sheen to 30 days in jail, which is suspended pending his completion of a court-ordered rehab programme in Malibu, California. He must check into a treatment centre within 30 days.

The actor will be on probation for a period of three months and has also been ordered to complete a domestic violence programme, according to ETOnline.com.

Sheen admits he is pleased with the outcome - and is now looking to the future.

In a statement released to E! News, he says, "I'm very grateful to the court and to the people of Pitkin County. I look forward to complying with the court's decision, getting on with my life and putting this behind me."
