Boyz Ii Men - Shawn Stockman Launches Autism Organisation In Name Of Son

Stockman and his wife Sherhonda learned their son Micah, a twin, had autism when he was just one, and the couple struggled to get to grips with the now nine-year-old's diagnosis.

The 39-year-old musician tells CNN, "It was drastic because Micah was the first one to talk, the first one to walk. I didn't know what to do. One thing a man hates when it comes down to his family is not knowing what to do.

"All you want for your sons is to grow up and develop a life of their own. And to know that it may not happen for my son Micah is extremely hurtful."

Fortunately the couple was able to afford the best care and now the I'll Make Love to You hitmaker has launched a new charity foundation, Micah's Voice, in a bid to help less-fortunate parents cover the day-to-day costs of special education and medical bills.

He explains, "We learned through our journey with Micah just how fortunate we were, having money. There's no way a normal couple or a single mom could afford this."
