Sharon Osbourne Blindsides Bosses By Leaving 'America's Got Talent'
According to Billboard.com, network chairman Robert Greenblatt told a meeting of the Television Critics Association that Osbourne's message was unexpected, saying, "This is coming out of context and sort of spontaneously, and we don't even know what's going on. And it's probably much ado about nothing". According to a person familiar with the production, the reality star had a multi-year contract with the series, though the reasons for her departure are currently unknown. Her tweet appeared to be in response to one posted on Monday, on the Twitter page of Howard Stern's satellite radio show, which read, "Agt update: Howard Stern isn't sure if he'll do another season and says Sharon Osbourne may not come back unless she gets more money". Stern joined the show this year, replacing Piers Morgan.
Spokespeople for both Osbourne and Stern have yet to comment on the matter, though Nbc entertainment president Paul Telegdy recently said he was "thrilled" with Stern's work on the show so far and would be "delighted" if the host came back for a second season.
